EGG Jr. Historical Document Artwork by DCSIII
This is a pretty special document that provides a personal perspective into the trials and tribulations of Ernie and his family. This historical document, while intended to be a humorous narrative of Ernie's life and the life of his family up until his highschool graduation in 1977, sheds light on the struggles that faced the Gygax family as Gary took a very big gamble, perhaps a necessary one, when choosing game design as a career. Mary Gygax is the author and typist, while Dave Sutherland III, who was especially fond of Ernie, took Mary's direction and illustrated the document with 18 ink drawings. The story spans from 1959 to 1977 and while it makes no mention of gaming whatsoever it gives a backdrop for the public history of the birth of D&D and TSR.
The document comes in its original manilla envelope, labeled, and illustrated by David C. Sutherland III.
Certainly the only copy ever to come to auction as the original is likely to be long lost or with Mary Jo.
