Ernie Gygax Non-Player D&D Character Sheets
A nice little set of important non-player character sheets from Ernie's various Dungeon Hobby Shop campaigns! Included are character sheets for "Shaman", "Smedly", "Meck", and "Shrew", all written by Ernie on 1977 Character Records.
The Shaman lived in a barbarian village not too far from the Ruined Upper Works of the Dungeon Hobby Shop Dungeon. The Shaman wielded great power in the campaign but prefered to act more as a power broker. In this he aided and called upon adventurers to serve his needs. The player-characters, in turn, would beseech the Shaman for magical assistance, potions, undoings of evil magics (polymorphs, turn to stone spells, etc.), and information in general. The Shaman himself is a powerful magic-user, although his power was rarely used or, at least not in an obvious fashion. The Shaman also has a bodyguard by the name of "Smedly", an under-shaman named "Meck", and an associated hobbit named "Shrew". Together these NPC's shaped the happenings outside of the dungeon and influenced the goings-on in the dungeon as well.
The interesting part about these NPC's is that Ernie developed them and gave them experience points as well as wealth and magic items tha the Shaman would obtain as payment of debts or tokens of gratitude. Indeed, the additional yellow sheet pictured with the Character records below is an inventory sheet of all of the magic-items and treasures moving in and out of the possession of the Shaman and his crew.
While mainly involved with play in Ernie Gygax's legendary Dungeon Hobby Shop Dungeon the Shaman and his henchmen served in other campaigns as well! A nice little set of collectables from the early days of the D&D and AD&D games!
